Dam with a Heart of Gold and a Pedigree to Match
Iris is a sweet and solidly built female out of the stunning appaloosa, Enchanted Hill Apple Dumpling. While her pedigree is packed with appaloosa genetics, Iris is white with just one small fawn spot—a subtle nod to her colorful lineage. Her color genotype is Ee Aa1, confirming her potential to pass on an exciting variety of colors and patterns.
Her fleece boasts a long staple length and a high-frequency crimp style, making it both visually striking and a dream to work with. Beyond her physical qualities, Iris stands out as one of the most dedicated dams we’ve ever seen. She’s exceptionally maternal and attentive, with abundant milk supply. Iris birthed her first cria unassisted at 341 days, delivering a 16.4 lb dark fawn female sired by our true black stud, Rare Gem Sea Señor (EE a1a2), of non-Appaloosa heritage.
For her 2024 breeding, Iris has been bred to Rare Gem Mirakel, an extraordinary appaloosa male. We eagerly await their cria, expected in November 2025, which promises to bring together two exceptional genetic lines.
What to Expect from Iris x Mirakel
This pairing brings together the best of Rare Gem’s appaloosa program. Iris’ maternal instincts, excellent conformation, and genetic diversity, combined with Mirakel’s elite appaloosa pedigree and award-winning fleece, set the stage for a truly remarkable cria. With Mirakel’s well-pattern, elite-fleece and Iris’ proven history of producing solid, strong offspring, we are anticipating a cria that showcases both color and exceptional quality.
